True Colors - Thursday Tree Love

Oh trees, it is time to show your true colors.
Otsiningo Park, Binghamton, New York, October 9
The green fades, as the tree shuts off food to its leaves, and the leaves' true colors are revealed.
Westover, near Johnson City, New York October 10
Glow, tree, in the sunset of upstate New York.

It's your time to shine.

Will you love a tree today?  Our fall color turning is suddenly accelerating, as if the season is trying to catch up with itself.

  2. We have colour! After a couple of snowstorms that turned my (should-be-turning-brilliant-red) vines into cooked spinach, the hardier trees are suffused with yellow and gold. Yay! We didn't totally miss out!

  3. This is my favorite time of year. I love when the colors of the trees brighten up my neighborhood. With the weather being so warm , I hope all the leaves aren't on the ground before they change color.

  6. The tree shuts down the food supply to the leaves and they suffer no harm. The leaves look so colourful and pretty.
