Wordless Wednesday - Hay Ganesh

This past Saturday, I wrote a post on scarecrows entered in a yearly Halloween themed contest at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton, New York, where spouse and I sometimes exercise walk.

Scarecrows started out as human-like structures made out of clothes stuffed with hay for scaring crows from fields of corn and other crops they love, but have now evolved into an art form.

Here's one I wanted to save for today.  This one is "Hay Ganesh", the remover of obstacles.

  1. Very Colorful! It is not a scarecrow but a much revered Hindu God.

  2. Hay Ganesh ! That's really cute punning on the hay. I suppose it also shows the globalisation of cultures. A few years ago Lord Ganesh sitting on a haystack would have been unheard of in the US.

  8. Hay Ganesh! Lord Ganesh literally sitting on hay... here in India he is worshipped as a god who removes all obstacles... nice one

  9. Wow, this is so enchanting! Reminds me of fairies and gnomes for some odd reason.

This cute Ganesh will actually attract birds, and not scare them away. He is loveable.

Thank you Alana for linking up with Esha and me for #WordlessWednesday
