Oh Those Parts! #MusicMovesMe

It's Monday, and we all know what day and time it is.  It's time for music!

<!-- end LinkyTools script —> Who are the #MusicMovesMe bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only on this music train, please!)   First, there is XmasDolly,   Her co-conductors are:   Stacy of Stacy Uncorked, Cathy of Curious as a Cathy and me.  Callie of JAmerican Spice pops in from time to time.

Our guest conductor for the month of May is Michelle of Angel's Bark, who has asked that we blog about songs mentioning body parts.

Songs about body parts.

You did say ANY body parts, right, Michelle?

How about feathers, such as those in this catchy video version of the French song Alouette, gentille aluette. (now I know what the lyrics mean!)  Ok, we humans don't have feathers, but sometimes I wish I did!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads will Roll
Ozzy Osbourne And Lita Ford - Close My Eyes Forever

Speaking of eyes, this 80's lover can not resist Bette Davis Eyes as sung by Kim Carnes.

It's a band, not a song, but I so love Heart.  Here, they perform "Barracuda".

Finally, back in the day, singers knew how to get a little off color just by the clever use of language.

Hence:

Chuck Berry's cover of the hysterically funny My Ding-A-Ling. (And, I am not going to explain what body part the Ding-A-Ling is.)

Michelle, you picked a good one.  Why not visit the other music bloggers on this hop and see what songs they picked?

See you next week!

  1. Alana,

Have you ever noticed how much Chuck Berry and SnoopDog look similar? Maybe, it's just me but I'm seeing it.

I remember quite well singing 'My Ding-A-Ling' as a kid. This song is hilariously funny and always makes me smile. It was certainly off-color in its day in a cute way and not at all nasty compared to some of the stuff out there today.

I had no clue what the lyrics were to 'Alouette, Gentille Alouette'. Whatever made you think of this one? Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 'Head Will Roll' is a new2me song but so is the artist. I'm gonna have to check them out on YT. Ozzy isn't new2me but 'Close My Eyes Forever' is but it's such a gentle sounding tune which I really like.

Thanks for hitting the dance floor with me, my dear. Have a boogietastic week! xx

  2. You have a very diverse list here this morning. Kim Carnes is always a good choice, and who doesn't love Heart...nobody, that's who. I am sure that Chuck Berry's song was considered "R" rated when it was first released. Have a blessed day.

  5. Great picks here Alana! The animated French birds were adorable! I remember singing that song as a kid. Never knew what it was about.
I never heard of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Where are they from? That was some creepy video!
I haven't heard Bette Davis Eyes in a zillion years it seems like! That was fun.
And even more fun was Chuck Berry's Ding-a-Ling. You cracked me up with that one Alana!
Good stuff, all the way through.
Thanks for playing along with my theme.

    Have a great week,

    Michele at Angels Bark

  6. Those really were a good listen. Lita and Ozzy were made for each other in song. HAH! I wondered if anyone would be brave enough for "My Ding-a-Ling)!

  7. An intersting arrangement on "Allouette." And, like you, I can't get enough Kim Carnes...

  8. Great list Alana!

I only know a couple of Yeah Yeah Yeahs songs, and this one was new to me. I had forgotten about Ozzie and Lita. Great throwback!

  9. Very interesting theme, and now I'll be singing "Barracuda" all night. I guess that's better than "My Dingaling".
