When Snow Feels Like Forever #WordlessWednesday

Some of my Wordless Wednesday readers have never seen snow, except in photos.  For some reason, seeing pictures of it gives them pleasure.

I get it.  I wish all the snow I saw was in pictures.
Alas, if you live in New York State that wish will never come true.  On Monday, this is what I came home to (the blue color is due to the "blue hour" light after sunset, which seems to be magnified by recent snow cover.)

Between Sunday and Monday we got 11 inches (28 cm) of snow on top of about 1/2 inch of sleet and ice.

This is what is left of my front flower bed.

Nothing is forever - not spring, not summer, not fall.  Somehow, winter always returns.  Here, this Norway Maple still hadn't shed its brown leaves.  You can barely see them inthe center and left corner of the photo.

When snow comes, it comes, and it feels like forever.

At least, until March.

  1. We love snow and can never get enough of it. Thankfully we got a nice load last week and weekend. Now if it will just last and not melt, we will be good. Winter is our favorite time of year.

  3. My snow photo was very blue, too, because I took it just before sunrise....

You got a lot more snow than we did.

  4. You can keep that snow out east, please, I'd be happy if it never snowed again after what we had at the end of October. Oh man, it's December already? Panic. It is pretty though but today it's sunny again and I have the patio door open and when you go shopping you get to see how creative Cheeseheads are when it's this nice out. Leather jacket and flip flops, shorts, tank top and snow boots...

  5. I've seen real life snow. It does, in fact, snow in California. I can see it on the tops of mountains. And if I were to drive about two hours up winding mountain roads, I could see it in person, too. (It's been a while since I experienced snow, though. If you want no snow, you can come visit us in the lower altitudes in CA...)

  6. Your "blue snow" is very impressive. Snow is such a rare thing in my life that it does seem almost miraculous. I suppose people who are trapped in months of the stuff probably find our 70 to 80 degrees sunny days in winter miraculous as well.

  7. Beautiful! I actually love snow. Except when I have to drive through it!
