Last Friday, my spouse and I walked what we call the "extension" of the Vestal, New York rail trail. It was a beautiful almost-spring day with clear blue skies.
It was so clear out you could see the shadows of the trees where the water had risen due to spring snowmelt.Sumac lined this portion of the trail. The little black dots are what remains of last year's sumac berries.
One of the highlights is an old bridge which has been repurposed as a pedestrian bridge for the trail.
People have left locks on the fence at one end of the bridge. These are called love locks (although they don't show love for the bridge - some people don't realize that). I blogged about the love locks in 2018; since then, the collection has grown.
I am ending with a sunset picture I took back in 2019 when spouse and I visited Oswego, New York, along Lake Ontario. I had to clean out some pictures on my phone today - I finally got the dreaded message that my iPhone was full and it was refusing to install an update. So I ran across this and it's a nice way to end today's post.
Maybe I'll post some more Oswego pictures for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, which starts April 1.
Joining up today and every Friday with Yogi's #SkywatchFriday.
Greetings and Salutations! I haven't ever seen love locks on a fence yet except online. Sunset photo in Oswego, NY is fantastic! Enjoy more walks together in 2021. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteThere's a bridge in Paris, they had to remove the love locks because the locks were causing too much damage.
ReplyDeleteThe sumac looks pretty set against the sky like that. No, the powers that be overseeing the bridge will be upset by the costs of replacing the fence at least. Too much weight. I wonder what percentage of those couples are even together anymore, and regret the lock?
ReplyDeleteHi Alana - stay safe ... I love the trail they've created and the revamped bridge ... beautiful sunset too ... all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteAnd I really have a thing about bridges. I love them! Especially when they have a history. Something about getting you from here to there...
This one is gorgeous! Terrific picture!
I don't know if there's exceptional beauty where you live, you just frame everyday views in a way that is beautiful, or both.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Spring is wanting to happen there. Blue skies and all. I love converted roads to trails.
ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of love locks. But nobody cares what I think about them!!
My iphone is nearly full as well. Technology has added to my challenges of decluttering; I thought it was supposed to simplify life!
ReplyDelete...a beautiful ending to what I hope was a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteHow very gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHow very gorgeous. You've inspired me to take a walk. Tomorrow.
ReplyDeletewonderful views.... love all.
ReplyDeletegreat shots.
The rail trail looks like a great place to walk. I enjoyed the photos, and that's a beautiful sunset. I was having memory full issues with my old iPhone. I solved it by storing a lot of my photos on the iCloud. They are still accessible on your phone, but it frees up lots of memory.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice walk. Did you know they make flash drives that connect to phones? You can upload pics to them and transfer them to a computer if you wish.
