I'm taking a little bit of a risk in posting about Ithaca, New York on "I" day of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. The last time I did an Ithaca post, I ended up in "FacebookJail" and I have no idea why.
Anyway, here goes.
Ithaca is a city of around 30,000 residents in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. A true college town, it has two colleges - Ithaca College, noted for its music program, and Cornell University, which is a hybrid private and public university.
Ithaca has what we might call a "certain vibe". It has one of the oldest farmers markets in the country. Alas, I never made it up to the market last year due to COVID, but this picture is from October 2016.

And, several waterfalls. This one is called Ithaca Falls, with a drop of about 150 feet (45.72 meters).
There are various ruins nearby, including that of a gun factory and a tunnel. Speaking of gun factories, there is the fascinating story of the ruins of the Ithaca Gun Factory, a spooky story.
I plan to blog a little more about Ithaca before the A to Z Challenge is over.

ReplyDeleteI have only heard of the name of the city, so looked it up. Quite a pretty place, and the falls is gorgeous. There are so many things to visit near me, and I just never have. Now would be the time for fewer people. I wonder what so-called AI thinks Ithaca is disallowed? Have a lovely weekend.

ReplyDeleteI like going to markets and since covid I haven't been. I drove by ours and I didn't notice anyone having mask on.
