For most of this week I stayed close to home - for us and a lot of people in this country, it was a week of heat (although my readers in India and other truly hot places would laugh at what we call "heat"). But, after work, I ventured out, where the thunderstorms were starting to build.
I took these pictures June 7 and June 8.
Thunderhead building June 7.This storm did not hit us.
The next day, there was another chance of thunderstorms. Let's take a walk, shall we?
Here's where we start.
A little further along the walk.
Uh-oh. This doesn't look good.
Walk cancelled.
This storm didn't produce much rain or thunder, but subsequent ones did, so much so that our area was under a flash flood warning at one point. But, it was all good in the end - we got some much-needed rain. There are cooler temperatures ahead today, maybe.

Great.
ReplyDelete...beautiful, but I'm looking for storm clouds!
ReplyDeleteThunderheads are beautiful! Our 103 degrees a week ago turned cold and rainy. A lot of rain a few days ago. It just started again when I was outside with Mickey, and he freaked out and now won't stop barking at it, even through the window! It's nice to postpone hot summer a while. (Our walk's cancelled too, and Mickey will be bouncing off the walls. Great timing as my daughter's coming to visit this weekend.)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky shots! Glad you got some much needed rain, we are still waiting for some here. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAlana,
ReplyDeleteWe've been getting a lot of rain this week. Sometimes in the afternoons the sky gets pretty to only cloud back up before evening falls. Those fluffy clouds against a rich blue sky make awesome pictures!
We'd love more rain where I live. Can you send a little here? Weather is amazing and beautiful although sometimes inconvenient. Hope you stay cool.
ReplyDeleteOkay wow, those clouds are awesome and ominous. I don't worry too much about rain in my outdoor activities. I worry about lightning.
ReplyDeleteThose thunderheads make for such dramatic skies! Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures! Our area has seen quite a lot of storm clouds recently but this week so far we are clear.
ReplyDeleteThose clouds are beautiful, but the storm isn't any fun, we had severe thunderstorm warnings here this morning after days of blazing hot weather.
ReplyDeleteMe encantan los hermosos detalles de las nubes, en tus excelentes fotografías.
ReplyDeleteThe power and majesty of a building storm. Those stunning dark clouds. I remember scanning the horizon hopefully all summer long when we lived on the ranch in southern Alberta. Waiting, waiting for that much-needed rain! These are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThose clouds sure rolled in quickly. Sorry you had so much heat. I think it's moving my way this coming week.
ReplyDeleteOh my, in that 4th photo the top cloud looks like a shark
ReplyDeleteWe got two inches of rain on Tuesday and it is raining again now. I hate the 90 degree afternoons and sick of it already. I prefer the rain.
ReplyDeleteClouds look pretty soft.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Greetings and Salutations! Chicagoland area has had 90 degree weather for two weeks now. Farmer's rain came this afternoon which was very much needed. I could hear in the distance thunder and lightening. Then out came the sun. Sticky hot weather came after the rain stopped. I am hoping it is cooler tomorrow. I like how you started out for a walk and how the clouds developed into I better go home soon. Beautiful sky shots! Stay safe.
