Last week, my spouse and I visited the Tioga County (New York) Historical Society, which has its annual Christmas display, "Oh Tannenbaum".
Each year they have a different display of toys or something similar. This year, the theme was Westerns.
I couldn't take good pictures due to not wanting to get close to other museum goers, but I got this picture of a display of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans memorabilia.
Here are some other Oh Tannenbaum posts of mine from past years:
Oh Come O Ye Memories (that year, the theme was the circus).
And this song immediately came to mind, complete with a fan made video including clips of Roy Rogers.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the video. I like the image, even it's a little bit surprising the choice.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this and the links. I'll explore them later.
Happy WW and a fine week!
Wow, I’d forgotten about the Elton John song
ReplyDeleteI remember him well. I grew up with him. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
Oh, my! And suddenly the memories are just so thick and lovely!
ReplyDeleteI get so inordinately homesick when I read your blog.... Carol C
ReplyDeleteRoy, Dale, Trigger... My husband has discovered the Lone Star channel and pre-Tv Roy did his own rather amazing stunt work in movies! I think they were pre-Dale.
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun. Nice you got a chance to see it, even if it was interrupted by other people. Too bad these things are open to the general public ;)
ReplyDeleteRoy Rogers was a Marriott fast food joint round here. They were by and large acquired by Hardees- and now Hardees is Carl's Jr. Amazing how the Westerns fade away. (Thankfully NOT Yellowstone!!!!!!)
ReplyDeleteRoy is definitely riding haha!
ReplyDeleteHave a neightaatic week 👍
I always like Roy and Dale
ReplyDeleteyour photo was just fine to show all those lovely treasures
ReplyDeleteThe first Roy Rogers Museum was in CA, and my family visited when I was a little girl. It was horrifying for me! It had his horse and dog there, stuffed! I was especially upset by the dog. I don't know how I knew about him really, the show went off the year I was born. Books maybe? All I know is they had horses, and I was crazy for them!
ReplyDeleteI liked Trigger...don't think I would have liked to see him stuffed, either. People outlive horses, but still...I'm glad their children didn't have Rogers & Evans stuffed.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard that song by Elton John in a very long time. It always was a favourite.
