Thanksgiving Cactus for You #WordlessWednesday

Today, while I busy myself with some baking and cleaning, I want to share my Thanksgiving cactus in bloom with you.

This plant is commonly known as a Christmas cactus, but most Christmas cactus sold in stores are not true Christmas cactus.
A true Christmas cactus won't have points on the leaves.  Mine (I have three) have the points, although they aren't that visible in these pictures.   They didn't bloom much last year but this year - wow.

    I have two plants of this kind and they are full of buds!

    I have a Christmas cactus too. I didn't know about the points so it is not a true one either. It is very old though. My MIL brought it with her when they moved from their tenanted farm to one they bought in 1955. We inherited it so I know it is at least 67 years old. It is in full flower now, it never seems to wait until Christmas. I put it outdoors through the summer where it has had a few accidents from unexpected high winds breaking parts off, but still it survives. I should try and remember to take a photo for my next WW.

    Gorgeous! Mine are blooming, too! I love looking at them--especially against the backdrop of snow just outside the window! A little bit of hope...
