Queen (Street) #AtoZChallenge

Downtown, on Queen Street, Charleston, South Carolina, is where you can find beautiful, historic buildings.

At the corner of Queen and Meeting Street is the Mills House Hotel.  The original structure, a hotel, was built in 1853 and had to be demolished in 1968 as it could not be salvaged.  It was rebuilt as a hotel.  Two stories were also added to the original design.  Historic?  Although it only dates from 1968, it looks to be older.
Queen and State Street.  This building dates from approximately 1814 and was part of the original walled city.  The neighborhood at present is called The French Quarter.

These are not recent photos but I am using them for the letter "Q".

"Q"day for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge.  My theme this year is: Exploring South Carolina and the Eastern United States.

  3. You have done so well with the letters! Even a Q! My Q was going to be terrible! Actually, K would have been too.

  6. Nice job on the restoration. The new hotel does look historic. I much prefer this to some modern, glass fronted tower.

  7. Sad they had to knock the old hotel down, but I can imagine how bad it must have been to make them do so.

  10. Nifty work for Q! Charleston is on my bucket list as is Atlanta, because my entire travel wish list is basically from books as I read as a teenager.
