It is Independence Day where I live in the Southern Tier of New York State. Tonight, many in our country will be looking towards the sky at fireworks shows.
We had ours though, yesterday afternoon, when a severe thunderstorm came through our area, downing trees, raining hail down on us, and disabling landline 911 (emergency) services. The building our year round farmer's market is located in was damaged and there will be no farmer's market Saturday. Many county facilities and parks are closed until further notice.
We were fortunate; our power never went out and the pieces of tree branches that fell on my property were small.
I wasn't about to go out in that storm and take pictures, so these are from last week.
The sky has its own colors, especially at sunrise and sunset.
For example, last week I was too late for the sunset, but not for the after show. After sunset, the sky started its own show. The trees learnt their own color.
...Mother Nature puts on the best show. Alana, I wish you a Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos.
ReplyDeleteDental work, ugh.
First, I hope everything goes well with the future dental work.
ReplyDeleteAs for that storm, we have had a few whoppers lately. My power was out for seven hours during that 90+ degree heat wave. Fortunately, I have a whole house generator. I have picked up lots of branches, but not any huge limbs.
Great photos.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your dental issues. Sounds serious!!
Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures. Glad you were safe in the storm.
Yikes, your dental work sounds painful. Good luck with that. And your weather... Wild.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are so nice. I love pictures like these.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear storm damaged the farmer's market building...at this time of year that's an important venue for farmers as well as those eating their produce! Oh and then the teeth! I do hope that all comes out well and easily for you! Beautiful sky photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies. Good luck with the dental work. I’ve had a lot of it, and it’s very discouraging that it does not seem to last. Fillings crack or get decay underneath, same with crowns and they are so expensive! Root canals can go bad. I’ve had two root canals that went bad and it doesn’t show up on a regular x-ray, so I had to go to a specialist. My last implant took forever because they had to build up the bone.
