It's Monday, it's Labor Day in the United States, and it's time for music!
Today I am joining up with other Music Moves Me bloggers (and you can join us at the linky above). We are a group of music loving bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday (or even later in the week). If you have music to share with us, you are most welcome tPo join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please! Otherwise, your post link may be labeled "No Music" or even removed.) We have occasional theme weeks, but you are welcome to ignore the theme and use music of your chice. Why not join us? You don't have to sing, or play an instrument. All music lovers are welcome.
Our head host is Xmas Dolly, and our co-hosts are Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and, last but not least, me.
This week's theme is "You Pick".
This time around, I have blogger's music block. So, to get the music part of my mind moving, I turned to some songs from my childhood and young adulthood. Let's call this "Bloggers Block Songs". We'll start with one song I like and see what songs I'm inspired to add to the list.
From 1968, the Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man. So, what else can I think of?
1971's Won't Get Fooled Again was a big favorite of mine. This is a live performance that was also the last performance of drummer Keith Moon.
From 1970, Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi
Stevie Wonder ' You Haven't Done Nothin', from 1974.
And finally, in honor of Labor Day, Tennessee Ernie Ford covered a song written and sung by Merle Travis in 1947, a song about coal minors. Here is the original song, from 1947.
I guess this free association worked. I have a blog post!
And that's a wrap.
Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.
