Music Monday - Al Jarreau

Multiple Grammy-award winning artist Al Jarreau died yesterday at the age of 76.
Jarreau, active to the end of his life, he had only retired from touring last week.  Next month, he would have turned 76.

Here are some videos you may enjoy.

Morning.  Al Jarreau always seemed so happy.  We need that so much today.

After All.  So smooth.  So delicious.

We're In This Love Together.

And finally, a jazz classic- Spain (I Can Recall).  Just listen to the lyrics.

Another great gone.

  1. I've only walked out on a performer twice in my life. Both times it was Al Jarreau. Once in Detroit and once in Cincinnati more than 20 years ago. And I wasn't the only one walking. I guess it goes to the power of the recording studios versus live appearances.

    1. That's too bad. I know a band I like very much on CD, but once I heard a live bit of their music and - ugh. I would never pay to hear them.(I won't name the group).

  2. He was one of my favorite go-to singers. I was so sad to hear of his passing. Amazingly, we never really heard of him until he was 30- and that was only if toured the small clubs in LA. Ten years later, he got his Warner Brothers contract- and ten years later that wonderful liaison with another great, George Benson....

    1. I wasn't as big a fan of some of his music, but Spain was awesome. He was a great, and he will be missed.

  3. Great music. Shocked to learn of his death on the same day as the Grammys.

    1. I wonder if they mentioned his death at the Grammys. I wasn't able to listen to the whole show. They probably had no time to put together any kind of tribute. I suppose that will be for next year.

  6. Another great gone, indeed. It seems to be happening more and more frequently these days, sadly.

    1. You're right. I know it's because we are all getting older, but still, it's sad.

  7. Please e-mail me privately. I went to PS 41, loved Mrs. Levine and also grew up in same project.
