Local Saturday - Go Back Jack and Blue It Again

Reporting on blueberry season has become a tradition on my blog.

Every year, my spouse and I try to go blueberry picking at least once each season, here in upstate New York. We have several U-Pick farms, and one gives us a 5% discount for our loyalty.  That is where we go.
This is what it looked like yesterday.

Blueberry and clouds.

Blueberry closeup.  Yes, we went back and blue'd it again.

And speaking of "blueing it again", here are some past blueberry posts for your entertainment.

Like Blueberry muffins? Here's a recipe for you.

Angry Blueberry Birds.

Blueing It Again

But you know what?  Other than a good blueberry pie, my favorite way to eat blueberries is raw.  No sugar.  No cream.  Just blueberries. (If I had a bush and could eat off of it, that would be even better).

Do you like blueberries? Do you have a favorite way to prepare?

  1. You've just brought back a memory. When I was very young my grandmother would rent a bungalow in the Catskills every summer, and she'd go blueberry picking in the nearby woods.

  2. I like blueberry pie. It is just too hot and humid here to spend anytime out of doors. Good for you for making it to the farm.

  3. I'm a blueberry purist as well. Just the blueberries, please. Just as God intended! :)

  4. I love blueberries, blackberries, and every other kind of berry. When I was a kid in the White Mountains of Arizona an older couple would hire me to pick raspberries. I pretty much ate half of what I picked and fresh raspberries are still my favorite.

  5. I'm not a big fan of blueberries, but momma LOVES them especially inside of a blueberry Poptart (she's addicted).

  6. If you've picked them yourself, there's no reason to dress them up at all.

  7. My daughter who lives in NJ promises to take me fruit picking each time I visit. I tasted blueberries off the bush for the first time when I visited her in May. My little grand daughter loves them just raw with a little bit of sugar sprinkled on top. I like them as pie or a crumble

  8. Each summer I visit friends in Maine, and I always make a fresh blueberry pie with those tiny, sweet, Maine blueberries. If I picked them my self, I'm not sure I'd get many home.
