This is what I woke up to on Sunday morning.

Because this is a "free" week and we choose our own theme (and I'm watching snow come down as I blog) I am going to choose as my theme:  Songs that mention "cold", either in the title, the lyrics or in the name of the group.

This first song, from 1982, is Stone Cold by Rainbow, is not about cold, but about a man whose wife has just left him without warning - stone cold.

From 1980, the Rolling Stones and "She's So Cold".

Still on the theme of male/female relationships, Foreigner and "Cold as Ice".

Coldplay is a group that I have not really gotten into all that much (gasp!) but I do enjoy this one song - Viva La Vida.

Because I did want to have at least one song dealing with cold weather, here's The Zac Brown Band - Colder Weather.

And I'll close with - yes, it's not Christmas, but the polar vortex is here so here's Frosty the Snowman, as sung by Jimmy Durante.

Is it cold where you live?  See you next week at #MusicMovesMe!

  1. Well, it's hard to believe that a song that is 40 years old is new to me, but Stone Cold is a great choice and almost anything Zac Brown does is worth a listen. Thanks for the tunes on this Monday morning.

  4. Alana,

Our forecast is turning ugly later tonight/early tomorrow morning which I'm not looking forward to at all. We'll feel that arctic blast, too. It's going to be cold here, not as cold as y'all but cold enough to set my hair on end. I love you theme and so appropriate with the forecast ushering in cold, cold temperatures. Stay indoors and keep warm, dearie! That's what I plan to do anyhow. :) Have a boogietastic week!

  5. I have only heard of a couple of these! Maybe because I am not a fan of the cold? It is chilly where I live but that is in the morning about 40 and it warms up to 50, so it is all a matter of perspective! I do think people who live in the cold areas are hardier than me and I give you all respect.

  6. I was just watching the weather & it sounds really scary for tomorrow. I'm like 30 minutes for Chicago where I live here in Batavia & tonite is brrrrrr I feel so sorry for my poor dog when he goes out there to do his business it's so cold. brrrr Anyway, your Jimmy Durante Frosty is so appropriate for sure & put a smile on my face. Your other tunes are fab... but this lady is off to snooze for sure & keep warm. You do the same my friend! HUGS

  7. "Frosty The Snowman" isn't really a Christmas song, although you usually hear it around Christmas. Good set!

  8. Nice song choices! Love Zac Brown Band - and of course Frosty the Snowman. We haven't gotten *any* snow yet this year, but waiting for it to show up later today/tonight (Little Dude is sort of hoping for a snow day, the hubby is even more so hoping for a snow day himself...heh!) :) Thanks for the dance! :)
