The Traveling Shoe #WordlessWednesday

Several days ago, in the park where spouse and I walk on days when I work (or days when we are too lazy to go anywhere far), a shoe showed up in the middle of a grassy field.

One shoe.

This park has a walking trail that circles a field.  One side of the park is near a river, so people who fish can be found walking to and from the river nearly every day.   The field is mowed regularly but hasn't been recently, as the weather has been somewhat dry.

Who would leave one shoe in a field?

I would love to know the backstory.  Was the owner of the shoe caught in quicksand and left a shoe behind in his or her haste to escape?  Did a big fish nab the other shoe?

In the past few days, the shoe has done some traveling (probably with human help).  First, it moved from the middle of the field to the middle of the walking path.  I thought that someone wanted to make it more visible in case the shoe owner returned.

Then, it moved to another part of the path, this time back on the grass, but just barely.

I wonder how long it will stay in its current location.

I've heard of the sisterhood of the traveling pants.

Is there a brotherhood of the traveling shoe?
