Hummingbird on Clothesline #WordlessWednesday

I was sitting in the backyard near this hummingbird's favorite flower container when she (a female ruby throated hummingbird) came by.

She made kissing sounds at me - no, it wasn't the buzzing sound her wings make. Rather, it was a quick series of chirps.  Maybe it was a greeting, but I don't think so.  This hummer does not go to our feeder when I am in the yard.

Instead, she flew to a nearby clothesline.

I slowly lifted my iPhone while she sat there looking at me.  To my amazement she let me take her picture.

Joining Sandee at Comedy Plus for her #WordlessWednesday.

  1. These little guys are always in motion and it's rare for one to sit for its "portrait." Congratulations!

  6. What a cutie pie. We feed all the birds here and I agree they are hard to get a shot of. Well done.

  7. The only time I've had a female chirp at me, and sit still near me, was when I was too near her nest. I think she was getting after me! It was a July, so maybe yours has a nest?

  9. One evening while sitting on the sofa watching TV, I happened to look out the living room window. The sunlight bouncing off the wind chime caught my eye and I be darn, there was a hummingbird mid-flight. He/she jitted side to side for a few seconds before zipping off. That was the weirdness thing. I wondered if the sun sparkled chimes attracted him/her? You got a great picture of your kissie hummingbird. :)
