New Year, New Songs #MusicMovesMe

It's Monday, and it's time for music!

But first, who are the Music Moves Me Bloggers?

We are a group of music loving bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday (or even later in the week). If you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please! Otherwise, your post link may be labeled "No Music" or even removed.)   We have occasional theme weeks, but you are welcome to ignore the theme and use music of your choice.  Why not join us?  You don't have to sing, or play an instrument.  All music lovers are welcome.

Today's optional theme is:
"It’s a new month, new year. Share a once new song from any era that you immediately loved or share a more recent new release that tickles your fancy or share music by an artist that’s new-to-you. The point is it’s a new year! "

Yes, a new year, and I want to share with you several songs that have not previously appeared on my blog. A couple of these are songs from genres I normally don't listen much to, but have appealed to me.

Taylor Swift and The Fate of Ophelia, which I heard for the first time on another blog.

Not a new song, but I just love this Cher cover, which I heard on a recent Saturday Night Live TV show.

Chappell Roan and Pink Pony Club (I chose a live performance).

Finally, 50 years ago this week, this song was #1 on the Cash Box Top 100.  Here's Barry Manilow and I Write the Songs.  Manilow underwent surgery to remove a cancerous spot on his lung last week related to his recent diagnosis of lung cancer.  We wish him the best.

And that's a wrap!

Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.

  2. I'm surprised I hadn't heard the Taylor Swift song. I kind of like it even though I'm not Swifty. :) My prayers are with Barry Manilow. I hope he doesn't have any further problem with the cancer. I read that they caught it early increasing his chances of success and I hope that's right. Thanks for sharing and for dancing with me, Alana. Have a boogietastic week and new year! xo

  3. Excellent song choices, Alana! I'm loving all the songs on Taylor's newest CD, and Pink Pony Club was my first intro to Chappell Roan (love!). I hadn't heard that cover by Cher yet, so especially thank you for that. :) Happy New Year!

  4. Loved these, but couldn't play the Cher one. I went to YouTube and hope i got the right one. She is singing Christmas songs? She still has a great voice!

    1. I apologize; I should have ID'd the songs, knowing not all You Tube videos play in all countries. The Cher song was Run Rudolph Run, which she performed live on a satirical Saturday night show here in the States.

  8. Thanks for the videos, I enjoyed them. I’ve heard Pink Pony Club, but I hadn’t seen it performed — What fun!
