These trees should be bare on November 28th.
This flower in my yard shouldn't be blooming on November 25.
We shouldn't be walking along the Chenango River in mild, sunny weather.
But we are. As much as I hate winter, this is still another fall that just hasn't been right. I don't feel right. I feel unbalanced. Even looking at these beautiful remnants of ornamental grasses near the river, something feels off.
What will happen next?
All will be well Alana.Seasons come and go and change will usher new stuff.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see.
DeleteIt got to 61 here yesterday, but the temp will be dropping into the 30's today. I don't care how cold it gets, but I hate snow. Yesterday I even did some yard clean-up that usually doesn't get done until spring.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't even dug our dahlias yet. We've done some yard work, too - of course, our yard is tiny compared to yours. But still..
DeleteThe ecological balance is tipping off... The seasons are the first one to indicate it to us. But are we noticing the silent signs? Everything rests in our hands. We must take care of the Mother Earth before its too late...

Politicians in our country, and many people, do not seem too interested in Mother Nature. But they are learning the hard way.
DeleteAs the planet heats up, summer/fall are slow to lose their grip. Winter will be coming later this year, if it comes at all in some areas. This, I'm afraid, is our new normal.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid that you are right. It was 48 today, but breezy, and it had a bite to it. But, guess what I am hearing around sunrise. Birds twittering! I don't know what birds they are, and it isn't like a spring concert, but just hearing birds is not something usual to late November here.
DeleteI agree, it's unsettling.
ReplyDeleteI think next Friday will be the first day of winter. I may be wrong but the forecasts are pointing to it. It will be a shock.
DeleteIs it just a weird year or is it climate change? I know we have El Ninos and La Ninas, and these disrupt our normal climate. Although, we're getting neither this year (that I've heard).
ReplyDeleteWe have La Nina this year here. But things are just too weird. It might be both "weird year" and "climate change". But snow is close - next Friday, possibly. Our fall will end next week.
DeleteYes, it was unseasonably warm in Delaware today as well, but I will take it because the snow is not far away!
ReplyDeleteOur foliage was late and a little duller than before. I keep wondering if one of these years we won't see an autumn.
ReplyDeleteOur fall foliage season has been totally messed up the last five years or so. I think the gorgeous displays of years past are history. It was never as grand as Vermont, but it was beautiful. As for you....
DeleteLovely shots, but yet another sign of climate change...
ReplyDeleteThank you, and, in a way, it's sad seeing it.
DeleteWonderful pictures. I was so happy to have the warm days. I put my friend's garden to bed and I put my garden to bed. Good night, you lovely gardens. It's time for snow now and for everything to go dormant.
