Welcome, once again, to October, or, as some say, "Rocktober". It's time for Music Moves Me!
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!) Our head hostess is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, and she is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and (last but not least) me.
Why not join our music loving folks? It's so easy. All you have to do is
join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music
video (there must be a music video or your post will be subject to removal or labeling "No Music").That's all it takes!
Each month, except December, we have a guest host. For October we are going to have three guest hosts, each contributing one theme. The other two weeks (this week is the first one) will be "You Pick" where anything goes.
Today I bring you a musical mix. But before I get into it, I'd like to wish my Canadian readers a Happy Thanksgiving. And now....
First up is the late country icon Loretta Lynn, who passed away October 4 at the age of 90.
This is possibly one of her most powerful songs. From 1975: "The Pill".
What I didn't know about was the number of songs Loretta Lynn wrote for other artists, or in collaboration with other artists. I decided to feature a song co written by Loretta Lynn and Elvis Costello, and sung by Elvis Costello: "I Felt the Chill Before the Winter Came".
And now for some other music. I decided to feature music I would consider as easy listening for today.
From 1969, Cream, and "Badge", written by Eric Clapton and George Harrison.
The Rolling Stones and their 1967 song "2000 Light Years from Home".
Before I go, one more song: Loretta Lynn's 1970 cover of the Kris Krisofferson song "For the Good Times".
That's a wrap.
Join me again next Monday for another episode of Music Moves Me.
Light years from home sounds so enchanting!
ReplyDelete...some oldies that I haven't heard in years and some that I have never heard of.
ReplyDeleteNice playlist. Loretta Lynn was something special. She will be missed.
ReplyDeleteLoretta Lynn will always have a special place in my heart. Her life was parallel to that of my mother (minus the singing career of course) but they both grew up in the same area and even looked alike.
ReplyDeleteOhmyword! Several of these I haven't heard in forever! Thank you for this today. And thank you for the thanksgiving wishes! Family coming... Good times ahead!
ReplyDeleteA true music legend was Loretta Lynn. A great playlist for this Monday.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I remember all those songs. And the singers.
ReplyDeleteHey Alana,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see you gave a nod to the passing of a great country super star, Loretta Lynn. She'll always hold a special place in my heart for "Coal Miner's Daughter", a song I can totally relate to and like Loretta Lynn I grew up in a very rural community. I didn't marry young as her but young enough. Great music line up today, my dear! It's always fun to boogie with you! xo
Nice picks this week!
